To be able to correspond with a body widely held as the epitome of standards of work in the world and receive feedback and guidance was significant for our team.  In 2018, Alvin J Boutte, the NASA Workmanship Standards Delegated Program Manager shared their standards with Udayan Bhanot to help improve our work.

— "This is a great opportunity to demonstrate our wider skill set in the broader field of electrical engineering bringing together a variety of technologies whilst at the same time delivering a solid base-line electrical supply infrastructure."

Do we have an issue with contact resistance of DC isolators

In our industry, DC isolators had developed some sort of a reputation for failing.  Sometimes due to poor workmanship and sometimes due to poor quality.

We decided to rule one factor out: contact resistance; and tested a few prominent brands using a Megger microOhm meter.  The results added to our body of knowledge and led to better outcomes for our customers.

Electro-Magnetic Interference

It is not uncommon for solar PV inverters to emit disturbance which can affect an electrical circuit by electromagnetic induction or electrostatic coupling. Why is this even important in our field? Some of our customer use sensitive communications’ equipment and such interference can cause disturbance in their equipment.

In 2011, to ensure our team only installed inverters that were properly shielded, we carried out tests on a number of different brands and models.

The findings from this testing helped us establish which products to use.
