Switchboard amalgamation, energy storage, metering and Solar PV

In September 2023, UB Energy (together with its partner, MRF Electrical) was selected by the Yarra Ranges Shire Council to conduct an investigation to explore the feasibility of  amalgamating various load centres in the shire with a view to creating a resiliance centre to cope with future possible extreme weather events.

Currently the site has three MSBs and an existing 30kWp solar PV system.  The feasibility will explore options to increase the solar system considerably and furthermore, add battery augmentation with generator back up.  It will also include the complete design, supply and installation of a new Main Switch Board.

— "This is a great opportunity to demonstrate our wider skill set in the broader field of electrical engineering bringing together a variety of technologies."

Myuna Farm off-grid system - Doveton, VIC

This is a lovely multi-sector technology design, engineer and construct project encompassing solar PV, energy storage, generator, charge controllers and general electrical installation is nearing completion!

— "We really enjoyed peeling away the layers of understanding the customer's usage and modelling the energy profile with a level of accuracy that allowed us to make dependable predictions and match the best and most cost-effective renewable-energy technology platform to meet the customer's needs."

1.3MWp ground-mount solar farm, South Australia.

In January 2023, UB Energy was selected for this project due to its team’s ability to understand on-the-ground installation challenges and ensure a high-quality practical outcome in strict conformity with the multitude of standards prevalent in Australia..

The system comprises two sub systems of approximately 211 and 1,100kWp respectively paired with Fronius Tauro inverters and a Schletter GmbH ground-mount framing system.

The design involved consultancy on the new 2000A and 3200A switchboards that form part of the overall installation as well as an assessment of the load profiles to establish the best spread of the PV asset.

A lightning protection study was also carried out to ensure full compliance with AS1768.

Delivery of this project is expected to be completed in the first half of 2024.

Thermographical inspection of switchboards

Glyde Metal Industries engaged the serivces of UB Energy to carry

out a thermographical inspection of all their switchboards installed at their factory in Dandenong, Victoria. The exercise helped establish ‘weak’ components, and areas of concern.

— "This was an interesting assignment that allowed us to demonstrate our skills in evaluating the thermograms of switchboards under live, working conditions."
